Last term, year 9 student Siobhan Balle represented Strathallan in the annual New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships held down in Christchurch. Siobhan competed in the year 9 girls’ competition at Barry Curtis Park where she placed 14th, completing 3km in a time of 11.39. We congratulate Siobhan on her amazing achievement.
On the last Thursday of term 2, 22 students set off to compete in the Secondary School’s Tough Guy and Gal challenge in Helensville. The course consisted of tough hills, stream crossings, rope climbing, obstacle jumping, shock crawling and lots and lots of mud! All dressed in fluoro at the starting line, our daredevils took off for either the 6km or 12km race, and completed looking rather muddy and shattered. Our 12km girls team, consisting of Amy Johnson, Mckenzie Northcott and Emelia Forsyth, crossed the finish line as the 3rd placed female school with the boys finishing 6th in the male school competition. The hot showers at the finish line were particularly satisfying after an entertaining and enjoyable Tough Guy and Gal experience.
